Be patient it's worth it. As such, I expect my Pho experience to be every bit as comforting as the bowl of soup itself. In my experience, the only surefire way to not do this sandwich right is less-than-fresh ingredients. I had the large 1, with the Jambon, Vietnamese ham and pate. Listen to me, here, you can literally read me drooling.
I had been feeling fine all day until a few hours after eating here. The bowl itself is pretty massive and so's the mountain of veggies and add-ons that add that final dimension you're looking for in a great cuppa soup. My stomach began to ache as if there were a knot in it. I've ordered several times using DoorDash. Its a drive from Houston but a drive well worth it. When the cobblers arrived they had a big scoop and a half of ice cream and unquestionably the best blackberry cobbler I've ever had even though I was full I ate the whole thing cuz it was absolutely Heavenly delicious.
Later that day, I could not bring myself to eat anything else from the feeling of being bloated and nauseous. Damit wird sich der Traditionsverein nach 70 Jahren im Oberhaus nur in der zweithöchsten Liga wiederfinden. That's how you know you're at a quality restaurant! She was the owners best friend's daughter and with the money that she makes on Thursday Friday and Saturday nights at Leona's she has already bought a house. I recommend this place to everyone. Anna is a sweetheart and will chat you up if you let her. This tiny place is wonderful.
My 8 year old really enjoyed her sandwich and the pho. The young lady that took my order was kind and helped me with the menu. It's my go-to during our 8 nonconsecutive weeks of Albuquerque winter. There was salad and loaded mashed potatoes buttered rolls with no options that night when they had to run out of butter but there was enough in the rolls and for reasons I will stay later no reason to worry about a little butter.
Walking through the restaurant we got nothing but stares and seemingly cold ones at that. The first time we tried it for the banh mi and it was very good and much closer than driving down to the international district for one. I sadly do not believe I can give it another shot. The look of it takes you back to the good old days!!! Get an umbrella, cinch up your coat and wait it out Doors opened and they get you seated quickly. I ordered a 32 ounce steak and only could eat half so took the rest for lunch on Sat. The pho is probably the best pho that I've had in town.
Steak from Leona is worth the drive! The speed of service was quite fast, with the pho+toppings arriving first. Finally good Vietnamese sandwiches and pho on the Westside. We had the pho with rare steak which was very good. The first seating is 5:30 and there is always a line, but it's worth the wait! I stirred in the bean sprouts and jalapeño slices, before asking the waitress for extra cilantro, and heck, extra jalapeño as well. Get here early and get in line at 5:00 pm fFriday and Saturday nights for the first wave and 7:00 pm for the second wave. It's mostly a country crowd that has not experienced a true steakhouse.
This is the sort of small place you feel good supporting. Proteins of all varieties, including tofu, shine. When our food was delivered I was glad I had gone with the 10 outs because my steak was at least 18 ounces - Clayton's probly 24. There was no mention of or option given for ala mode. We tipped Jessica not extravagantly but somewhat generously. Thank you very much I'll def be back! It was a big sandwich and man, it was good! Our server, Jessica, asked what we wanted to drink - unsweet tea - and steak, chicken or fish.
I generally avoid hot foods during our sweltering summers, but being under the weather today, I went in for some Pho. Well worth the out of the way detour drive. This time we had our head to toe tattooed up 36 year old nephew. Plan to get there 45 minutes to an hour early, and you'll be number 50 - 75 in line.
This is not Steakhouse Steak but Country Tavern Steak. And it's good, so that helps! You may feel like your fixin to get lynched. My experience and reason for the not so stellar score is because I believe I got food poisoning after eating here. On busy nights it's probably best to get your food to-go. It's the best eating experience I could recommend. So I really got a 44 ounce steak for the price of 32 ounces, what a deal.
Finally, my bowl loaded up, I began to eat. My wife had the chicken. As many people as there were coming in for take-out while I ate my meal, the recognition made me feel super special. I devoured the marinated chicken Bahn Mi sandwich.
